Serving Our Kids
by Robin Roady - Director of Childhood Ministries
A profound quote I often see is “if we don’t teach our children to follow Christ, the world will teach them not to.” Let that sink in a minute. If we, as believers, do not teach the children around us about Jesus, the world will teach them to run to something else.
The number one priority in a Christ centered home is for the parents to teach their children about the saving grace of Jesus Christ, guide them into a relationship with Christ and teach their children how to follow Him. In children’s ministry, the church’s job is to come alongside the parents and also help disciple them on how to live out their life in obedience to Christ. The church’s job is not to replace the parents! However, we are seeing more and more children come to church who are not being raised in a Christ centered home. We see children come to church with friends, without their parents, and with no Godly teaching going on in the home. THIS is what makes our children’s ministry so incredibly important. The Bible tells us “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms”. 1 Peter 4:10
Our children at CHBC are the future of our church. They depend on us, members of the church, to teach them the importance of Christ in their lives, their schools, in their friend circle and especially how to serve in the church. Jesus tells us that each one of us should be using our gifts to serve others. Our preschool and children’s ministry need more people willing to invest in the lives of our children. One of the most important things I get to do in my job is to equip children’s ministry leaders with guidance, curriculum and even training on how to use the curriculum and manage a classroom.
Would you be willing to talk to me about how you can serve in our preschool and children’s areas? If you are already serving somewhere else, would you pray for God to provide more volunteers in these areas, people who have a passion for teaching our Chisholm Kids about Jesus and His love for them?
