New
by Rusty Stowe - Senior Adult Pastor
One little three letter word that has such huge meaning is this word “NEW.” It is being used now more than any other time of the year. We hear about a new creation, new covenant, new every morning, new thing, new creature, new life, new song, new testament, and the list can go on. The point is this, we are at the brink of something new not only in our church but in our nation. We have new leadership in Washington, D.C. We have new leadership here in our church with the calling of Lyndall Jones and his family. So, as we stand on the threshold of something NEW, where are we going?
This word “new” appears 280 times in our Bibles. 175 of those are found in the Old Testament and the remainder 105 we read about in the New Testament. One of the most popular verses is 2 Corinthians 5:17 where we read “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!”
Right now, many of us are just trying to recover from a very busy schedule of celebrating the end of the “old” year. It is difficult to think about what the “new” year is about to bring. Let me encourage you to look at the “newness” of what God is doing in our church. We have come along way over the past two years. We have a “new” senior pastor, a “new” worship pastor, “new” leadership in our Sunday School, “new” babies in our nursery ministry, and “new” members of our church family. So, where are we going from here? Only you can answer that question for you and your family.
Just as Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “the new is here” let’s take that phrase and run with it. Encourage those who are “new” to be all that they can be for the Lord. Support our “new” leadership by attending Sunday School, worship services and Bible Studies. Become an active part of CHBC by telling others what God is doing out here.
There are approximately 327 days remaining in this “new” year and then it will be classified an “OLD” year. When we look back over the year 2025 I pray that we can see how God has continued to bless us and how we have been faithful to Him.
Welcome to 2025 – a “NEW” year in each of our lives!
