April Showers Bring...
by Chris Watkins - Student Pastor
Zechariah 10:1
God is the one in control of all things, including the weather. The phrase, "April Showers bring May flowers," is a subtle sweet reminder that we go through various seasons in life temporarily (including the ones with pollen that irritate most of our allergies). If we allow ourselves to only see the rain and storms in our lives and believe that is all it will ever be, I feel like we allow ourselves to get stuck in a rut or allow ourselves to become anxious. I was told at a young age the saying, "you are either in a storm, coming out of a storm, or about to head into a storm." This sounds daunting or even frustrating if our perspective is solely on self. Yet, when we think about our Savior that promises to be with us, there is comfort in knowing the Lord that controls the weather and storms is there by our side. If we remind ourselves that God is in control, that he brings seasons into our lives for a reason, then we can have a more joyful outlook even if it is rainy or full of that gross yellow stuff that covers everything and makes me sneeze (okay I’ll stop complaining about the pollen because it is useful for God’s creation). Remember April showers bring May flowers. God has a purpose for all things even if we can’t see it or understand it right now. Let’s keep our focus on Him and how He can receive the glory from us having everyday faith.
